How do I know if I need psychiatry or therapy?
Therapy helps with emotional challenges and coping strategies, while psychiatry focuses on diagnosing and prescribing medication for mental health conditions. If you’re unsure, a mental health professional can guide you toward the best approach—often, a combination of both is most effective
Can I combine psychiatry and therapy?
Certainly! Studies indicate that combining talk therapy with prescription medications can lead to significantly improved outcomes in treating many common conditions.
How should I prepare for my first session?
Before your session, you will receive a notification within your patient portal with details outlining what to bring and what to expect during your session. You will also receive an intake packet to complete prior to beginning with your provider
Are the sessions confidential?
At Oasis, we comply with all HIPAA guidelines (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 Privacy Rule – HIPAA). Before you begin with your service provider, you will be asked to read these guidelines and will be given the option to sign a “Release of Information” form if you’d like your information shared with an outside agency. None of your information will be disclosed without your consent, and you will have access to all your records.
How do I access the patient portal?
After confirming your insurance eligibility (or if you’re paying out of pocket), our team will guide you through the process of registering for the patient portal.
Understanding Costs
Do you accept insurance or offer payment plans?
Yes, we accept a variety of different insurance providers and plans to fit your needs, check out our Cost of Care to see the current insurance providers we accept. Contact us to provide us with an estimated cost of care.
What will my cost per session be if I'm using insurance?
Your expense depends on your specific insurance benefits and deductibles. To gain a clear picture of your coverage and benefits, request a personalized cost estimate.
Can I use my HSA or FSA to cover the cost of sessions?
Yes. You can use your HSA (Health Savings Account) or FSA (Flexible Savings Account) to cover out-of-pocket expenses. You’ll have the option to enter your card as the payment method on file, or you may submit a receipt to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement.
What if I don't have insurance or my insurance doesn't cover sessions?
We recognize that some individuals may not have insurance or experience coverage limitations. For this reason, we offer self-pay rates. Please contact us for a personalized cost estimate.
How can I use my out-of-network benefits?
If your plan includes out-of-network benefits that cover providers outside its network, Oasis will bill you at the cash rate and, upon request, provide a Superbill. You may then submit the Superbill to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Can I use my EAP beneefits?
Oasis does not currently participate in EAP networks, but we are in network with most major insurers. You may also use your HSA or FSA for eligible out-of-pocket costs. However, we recommend checking with your insurance carrier to confirm coverage details.

What is the difference between coaching, counseling, and therapy?
- Coaching is a forward focus practice where you’ll spend the majority of time talking about where you are now and how to get where you want to go through a specific set of coaching tools and techniques
- Counseling entails spending a specific amount of time discussing a particular topic with a mental health counselor or clinical mental health counselor. for instance, if you’re having issues with your marriage, family, or even your job, counseling can be beneficial.
- Therapy may last longer and concentrate on you as an individual, your thoughts, habits, and underlying patterns that drive how you view the world and yourself. Typically, you attend treatment sessions over a longer period.
Scheduling and Canceling Appointments
What is Your Appointment Policy?
Like many professional services, our practitioners must effectively manage their schedules. Therefore, we require a credit card on file prior to scheduling an appointment and an initial $25 deposit. After we file your claim with your insurance, the deposit will be applied to your patient responsibility, and any remaining balance will be refunded.
How can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?
You can reschedule or cancel appointments through the patient portal or by replying to the automated SMS reminders. Please note that we require at least two business days (48 hours) notice for cancellations. A fee of up to $100 may apply if sufficient notice is not provided.
Taking care of patient responsibilities and outstanding balances
Your patient responsibilities are due at the time of service and can be paid through the patient portal or via a secure payment link sent to your email or phone. If you have any outstanding balances, payment is required to avoid appointment cancellation.
